I can’t be the only one who learned about The Atlantic Slave Trade in the context of “well, that’s just the way things were done” as if enslaving human beings was equivalent to a lack of scientific knowledge. Which is, for the record, hella racist. That’s basically saying “how were folks supposed to know back then that black people are people?”

Racism requires a well-orchestrated narrative that keeps white people in control of the legal structure and culture. People are not racist, they support racists systems which Leila Fielding will argue starts with strategic dehumanization.
